NAGOYA STATION (MEI-EKI)>>>
For the best restaurants, just go straight up from the station to the 12 floor and you will find Tower’s Dining- a collection of 40 different restaurants. Some of the best lunch deals include…
1. Salvatore Cuomo- The Kitchen
The restaurant of the renowned Italian chef. JR Nagoya station, 12th floor.
Top quality Italian dining, with very good service . The kitchen is part of the restaurant so you can see the cooks preparing your food. There is a great menu in the evening, but it is more expensive. If you go at lunchtime you can get a special deal for 2,800yen. It includes a brilliant buffet of starters, a main dish (pizza or pasta), a very good desserts buffet and coffee.
2. Din Tai Fung
Recommended. This is a very popular Taiwanese restaurant, which specialises in Dim Sung. The ‘Shoronpo’ (dumplings) are particularly good and the fried rice with peppered pork chop is also very nice. Free Jasmine tea as well. Bookings are only possible for groups of four or more. Located on JR Nagoya station, 12F
3. Creperie Breizh (052-569-1185)
Highly recommended! This totally authentic creperie is located on the 13th floor of Nagoya station but there is nothing unlucky about it. It serves just about every kind of crepe and galette you could think of, all cooked in the traditional Bretagne way. At lunch time you can get two crepes and a salad and drink for 1500yen. You can also eat your meal on the open air terrace, which has a great view of the city.
4. Paul Bocuse (052-563-4455)
The restaurant of the renowned chef Paul Bocuse. Located on the 12th floor of Nagoya Station building. Has discounted lunch deals (1,600 yen) Evening meals are a bit more expensive. The food is absolutely delicious, although the portions are rather petit. Nevertheless, it is great if you are in need of delicious food and are not starving.
On the 51st floor of Nagoya station. You need to go to tower’s dining and take a 2nd elevator. At the top, you can have a tasty French lunch for 1500-1800yen, and the view is fantastic. Recommended.
Popular restaurant, with 2 locations in Sakae. One is next to the TV tower in north Sakae, and the other is located inside the Princess Garden hotel in South Sakae.
7. Tiger cafe
Affordable 1930’s style French style cafe in the heart of Nagoya. Great place for a sunny day. They serve dishes such as Beef Stroganoff, Croque Madame and Creme Brulee.

Sakae- 052 971 1031 map
Wolfgang Puck is (at the time of writing) the official chef of the Academy Awards. He might not be there in person, but that doesn’t stop them from serving up the best American food in Nagoya. What’s more, if you go there for lunch you can get your meal for less than half price. I had soup, a small roast chicken and then Mississippi mud pie- for just 1,600yen. Another time I had a pure beef cheeseburger followed by white chocoloate cheesecake. Unlimited soft drinks drinks are included in the lunch time price. The attentive waiters bring you as much soda, ice tea or coffee as you want.
The full evening menu includes many western dishes- but prices are higher and it’s busier. Still, if you are missing western food, this is the place to go. Located on the 10th floor of the Aichi Arts Center, in Sakae, right next to Oasis 21. It’s open from 11:00-23:00 everyday except Mondays and National Holidays (when the whole arts center is closed)
One of Nagoya’s most popular and authentic Indian restaurants. 2 outlets:
Nagoya station area>> It is in the basement of Castle Plaza, which is on Sakura Dori.
Sakae>> On Hirokuji Dori, just along from Maruzen.
10. Il Grano
Formerly known as ‘Da Carlo’. It is conveniently located about 5-7 minutes South of Fushimi station. The Lasagna, stone baked pizza and Italian style roast beef are all very tasty. In fact so are the salads, pasta and desserts. Fantastic Italian taste and a great smell wafts out of the pizza oven and kitchen area. It costs about 1400-2000 for 2 courses. It is now open for lunch as well!
11. Siam Garden
This restaurant is in Fushimi at the old 1930’s building next to the river. Nice location and the food is good too.
Also in Fushimi, you can find another smaller Salvatore Cuomo restaurant, offering a lunch buffet of pizza, pasta and salad for 1000yen. It is massively popular.
12. Chez Toto (052-265-2002)
This is a very authentic bistro about 5 mins walk South of Shinsakae-machi station. It was originally set up by a Frenchman but is now under Japanese ownership. The lunch deal for 900yen is particularly good value. In the evening they serve a variety of dishes, including lamb, steak-frites and duck, but the prices are higher.
13. Sawasdee Sumiyoshi
They have 2 restaurants, offering delicious Thai dishes at really good prices. Unlike Sukontha, they are also open for lunch, and the lunch deal for 900yen is superb value. They have a choice of 7 Thai dishes (incluing Phad Thai and green Curry) which come with soup, salad and unlimited drinks.
One branch is in Sakae, and one is at Tsurumai (also has a massage center). They are open from 11:30am- 11:00pm.
14. Annam Blue
‘Pho’ is the vietnamese version of ramen- with fragrant flavors and lots of vegetables. They have raw spring rolls and special fried spring rolls. You can get various types of fragrant soups and variations of fried chicken, pork and shrimps.
Perhaps the most interesting thing on the menu is the vietnamese coffee. It is an unusual cross between espresso and chocolate, and gives you an instant uplifting boost of caffiene. Lunch costs 1400-2000yen, dinner costs about 2000-3000yen.
There are four Annam Blue restaurants in Nagoya (Sakae, Mei Eki, Fukiage, Kanayama).
15. De Cesari
Cost: around 1200-2000yen Location: Osu shopping arcade, South Street.
This feels like a piece of Milan has landed in the middle of Osu! There is a trattoria serving fish and meat, a pizzeria with stone baked pizza and pasta, and a nice Italian style coffee shop with Panini, espresso and cakes.
16. Osso Brazil (rotisserie chicken)
Roast chicken and authentic brazilian snack food in Osu! Just like Sapucai, the food is really authentic, and you’ll find Brazilian expats dining here.
There are sushiro restaurants all over the city, but this one is the most central. It is about 5-10 minutes walk South of Kanayama station. There really is no cheaper place in the world to eat sushi, and fortunately the quality is good and it tastes great! Because you are paying just 105 yen for a plate of sushi, and the tea is free, you can easily spend just 525 yen for lunch. If you are more hungry, then you could stack up ten plates and still only pay 1050yen. It’s a win-win situation!
website with locations
Kashmir serve Pakistani cuisine (halal). They have a restaurant in Kanayama, north of the station. website (052-339-5945)

If you go at lunch, you can get the best buffet deal in the city. You can have unliomited chicken curry, vegetable curry, saffron rice, naan bread and salad for just 850 yen. The deal is a little more expensive at weekends and national holidays. Highly recommended.
19. Innuniq (Organic food)
‘Every day is Earth Day’ according to the menu. Inuuniq is the cure for people who can’t stand MacDonalds and Mos Burger. It only serves freshly prepared, organic food. There are one or two meat dishes, but it is mainly vegetables on offer here, making this a great place for vegetarians. Chilled out guitar music and a leafy, green garden add to the feeling that you have escaped the world of concrete and convenience stores- if only for an hour.
Situated just South of Kurokawa station. check map
20. Thu an Yagoto
Recommended. The restaurant is located about 5 mins walk south west of Yagoto station.
The chef used to work in a 5 star hotel in Ho Chi Minh city (aka Saigon). The lunch time buffet for 900 yen (including one extra dish of your choice) is one of the best value lunches in the city, and is reason enough to visit Yagoto.
